Local Artist Devoting All Of Her Time To Her Passion

Artist, Janet Niquette Poirier recently presented the portrait, "Missy & Cris" to Melissa Roberge Pignitellio. Family and friends celebrated the event of the unveiling.
Mostly self taught, Poirier has been creating art nearly all her life. Her mother was her biggest art influence, who did portraits of family members, when she was a little girl. From the age of 10 years, she began to draw, showing an interest mostly in portraits, at that time. She took art in high school, winning the award of Most Improved Student in Art, for the year in 1975 and later took lessons from artist, Andre Belanger and instructor, artist, Fran Greenwood.
She continued to pursue her art at home while working and taking commissions, when her children were still young. In 2005, her husband, David, was laid off from Nexfor Papers, after working there nearly 29 years, they both took their skills on the road.
